When do i collect my gcse results

For many, dreams are about to become reality and the possibility of future careers are becoming tangible. For many, the exam results are simply the next step in a future as yet unknown and undecided. Exam boards release results as early as 6am, and your school will make them available the same morning. Try to stay calm. It may feel like the world has ended but we promise your options are still wide open. Sometimes students with near-misses are accepted or offered an alternative course.

Remember, a re-mark could mean you end up with the same or a lower grade. If your university place depends on the outcome of your re-mark, make sure you let the admissions officer or UCAS know your papers are being looked at again. UCAS Clearing enables universities to fill any spaces they have left, and applicants without offers to secure a place at university.

This is the fourth year since we first saw the numerical grading system introduced. Now as part of the new GCSE exams reform, grades range from 9 to 1, and a U grade for papers too low to be classed.

Here is a table explaining the new grading system:. Due to the coronavirus outbreak, GCSE results will be graded differently to previous years. All exams across the UK have been cancelled. Ofqual is working closely with schools and exam boards to ensure pupils get a fair grade which reflects your potential. They will take into account a mixture of data and evidence including, mocks, coursework, homework, non exam assessments and teacher judgement to award students GCSE grades this year rather than a formal exam assessment.

You still have so many options! Usually, if you need a specific grade to be accepted to college, sixth form or university, you can consider having your paper remarked. However, if you were only a few marks off a higher grade then pupils previously would have considered having their GCSE results remarked. To get your paper remarked, this would have needed to be discussed with your school and teachers who will be doing all the paperwork alongside the exam board.

Each exam board has a different procedure. You may have been scheduled to sit exams for a number of qualification providers before exam cancellations.

Your best bet is to discuss this with your teacher, who will be able to advise you based on whether they think you could achieve a better grade. Pupils can also appeal to the school or exam board if they believe the grade awarded is unfair or incorrect.

If pursuing an appeal, the first course of action is to contact the school to see if the grade can be amended.

If unsuccessful, parents and students can appeal directly to the exam board. The Department for Education however warns that grades can go down, as well as up, when making grade appeals.

Check with your school or college for exact resit options for your specific subject as these will be different for each examining group. What date is GCSE results day? To receive your results via email, talk to your school or college. Do I need to take anything with me? You should also take a pen and paper to jot down any key information that you need.

Five minutes on your own is a great idea here. What do the GCSE grades mean? What do I do if my results are not as I expected?
