What kind of powers does raven have
Her success, however, was middling, and she was unable to keep her secret for long. Eventually the threat of Trigon would force Raven to confess her motivation in bringing the Titans together. In a weakened and vulnerable state, Raven had been kidnapped by the cult of Brother Blood and brainwashed into helping resurrect Trigon. Arella and Nightwing were both kidnapped in the process of trying to rescue her. But the tranquility was short-lived.
The fight was brutal and costly. It was through another plot of Brother Blood and his cult that Raven was forced to regain corporeal form. Resurrected but implanted into a considerably younger human body, Raven was given a secret identity for the first time—the human alias Rachel Roth—and rejoined the newly reformed Teen Titans. But there were still some familiar faces around. Her old friends Cyborg , Starfire and Beast Boy had remained with the new team to act as mentors, and were able to help Raven gain a foothold in the new status quo.
Raven was among the first Super Heroes Damian recruited, after he found her trying again to live her life as a normal teenager, with lukewarm results. In the comics, Raven uses her Soul-Self to perform most of her miraculous feats. It's pretty much the defining aspect of her powers - which makes its absence in the and shows even stranger. Anyhow, Rachel isn't apt to transform parts of her body into tentacles or even assume a more monstrous appearance to scare people - at least not in the comics.
But hey, Raven's powers are some of the weirdest in the DCU. Who's to say they won't add traditional shapeshifting to her arsenal in Rebirth? All of Trigon's children embody one of the Seven Deadly Sins. Rachel represents the Original Sin - Pride; her mastery over the arcane and her status as a living Doomsday Device occasionally gets to her head. Evil versions of Raven act callously towards others, treating them like maggots beneath her heels.
The Sons of Sin tempt Rachel into giving into her pride, prompting her to leave the Titans and kickstart a potentially world-ending event! Since Rachel embodies the Original Sin, she holds sway over all of her younger siblings - allowing her to beat them all with the snap of her fingers. Normally, Raven's magical prowess pales in comparison to the likes of Zatanna or Doctor Fate. Even a hero like John Constantine could match Raven nine times out of ten.
However, Rachel's powers become amplified when she gives into the Dark Side. On several occasions, Raven's nearly ended the world after accepting Trigon's power.
In those dire times of crisis, casters like Zatanna and Constantine could do little to intervene on their own. Indeed, Raven's one of those heroes who become insanely overpowered when they go rogue. Need it, she doesn't even have it in the comics! The Book of Azar is something created for Glenn Murakami's show. In the Post-Crisis comics, Rachel had a slew of tomes and scrolls at her disposal. However, she didn't specifically have a Book of Azar with similar functions to her animated counterpart.
Teen Titans fans will probably remember that the Book of Azar served the role of a plot device; a few episodes centered around the tome and the consequences of misusing it. So far, the book hasn't appeared in the comics. But who knows, maybe Rebirth Raven will find it and give it a new purpose. Well, we should start by saying that it's not like going Super Saiyan. White Raven represents a version of Rachel that's completely free from Trigon's influence.
The first time we saw White Raven, it was the result of Rachel simply changing her outfit and wearing white clothes. Perhaps Raven's most well-known - but less understood - power is her ability to summon and project darkness from her body.
This darkness isn't an abyssal void, as it sometimes seemed in the Teen Titans animated series , but a reservoir she can use to release her soul-self, an astral projection that appears as a giant, dark bird.
Through this bird, Raven can see through and directly affect objects and people. Despite being intangible and, well, a soul, Raven is susceptible to magical attacks in this form. A complicated but cool ability Raven has is the capacity to project something called a Third Body.
It's the 'third' thanks to her ability to distinguish her second Soul Self. The Third Body echoes Raven's human form, however and with it, Raven has the ability to fly. This is a power that she is routinely able to deploy in current continuity, but in the past, had been an ability she could only manifest when she was at the mercy of her father Trigon. Despite her dark and moody persona - and especially her comically brooding disposition in the animated series like Teen Titans Go!
In fact, she's one of the most powerful empaths in the DC universe. Sometimes this is good, as she's able to sense the emotions of others, and sometimes it's not so much.
She's made Wally West and Nightwing both fall in love with her against their will. This was toned down with continuity revisions, but in the New 52 , Raven has retained her abilities. Raven may be a natural telepath and telekinetic, apart from her magical abilities, but it isn't entirely clear. What is clear is that in addition to her empathic powers, Raven can read minds.
She's not exactly Professor X, but then again, the extent of her psionic powers is by and large unknown. One indication of how extensive they might be though came when she was able to effortlessly defeat Doctor Psycho when he tried to gain control of her mind, something he generally has trouble with. As if reading minds and controlling other people through their emotions wasn't enough of an advantage, Raven also has the ability to teleport herself and others.
